Please join us in thanking SARE Communications Director Andy Clark for 23 years of service and leadership to SARE and sustainable agriculture as he retires on June 29. Thank you!

Andy joined SARE in June 1995 to coordinate the newly formed SARE Outreach office, known in those days as the Sustainable Agriculture Network (SAN). Under Andy's leadership, SARE Outreach has grown considerably in its capacity to fulfill its mission - to disseminate SARE-funded research and information on sustainable practices. Andy has overseen the publication of dozens of books, bulletins, fact sheets, videos, program reports and promotional materials. At the same time, Andy has guided the growth of SARE Outreach from an office of one - himself - to a team that provides critical support to the SARE program in the areas of multimedia, promotions and outreach, technical review, publishing and website/IT support.

Along with managing this growth, one of Andy's lasting impacts on sustainable agriculture will be in the area of cover crops. Before coming to SARE two decades ago, Andy conducted graduate research at the University of Maryland on cover crops, which included participation in two early SARE grants. Since joining SARE Outreach, he has served as editor of two editions of the book Managing Cover Crops Profitably. With 70,000 copies distributed and 300,000 downloads, this book is recognized as one of the most authoritative sources of information on cover crops. A nationally recognized expert on cover crops, Andy has engaged in many other SARE efforts to encourage the adoption of this sustainable farming practice.
