MULTINATIONAL EXCHANGE FOR SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE (MESA) NEEDS YOUR HELP
TO BEGIN A UNIQUE FARMER-TO-FARMER EXCHANGE PROGRAM FOR SUSTAINABLE
AGRICULTURISTS AROUND THE WORLD!!
>>What is MESA?<<
MESA, a non-profit organization, has been formed to help promote the global
use of alternative farming practices. To this end, MESA works with
co-sponsoring agricultural affiliates abroad to sponsor an exchange program
for young international farmers who want to live and work on qualified
U.S.organic host farms for a one year program, and attend educational
seminars provided by MESA.
MESA'S PROGRAM IS THE ONLY ONE OF ITS KIND DEVOTED EXCLUSIVELY TO
SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE AND SET UP TO PROVIDE ASSISTANCE AND SUPPORT TO THE
EXCHANGE FARMER AND THE HOST FARMER THROUGHOUT THE PROGRAM YEAR.
MESA will also send young American farmers abroad in the near future.
MESA's program is invaluable to anyone who seeks to facilitate the exchange
of skills and knowledge in alternative farming methods across geographical
borders.
>>WHY S.O.S.?<<
In order to begin this farmer-to-farmer exchange program, MESA must receive
program designation through the United States Information Agency
(U.S.I.A.), which oversees ALL U.S. exchange programmes and allows the use
of a special category J-1 visa needed for international participants coming
into the U.S.
MESA's application for designation has been pending since last July!! We
have only now discovered that the U.S.I.A. may not grant MESA approval
simply because we are a NEW organization!
If you think MESA is a great idea and will be a welcome addition to the
sustainable and organic communities---PLEASE HELP US OUT BY FAXING OR
CALLING THE U.S.I.A. AND TELLING THEM TO APPROVE OUR APPLICATION!! The
name of the person reviewing our applicatiion is Tamara L. Martin, Program
Designation Officer, Exchange Visitor Program Services-U.S.I.A.,
