Cotton in the US receives half the insecticide applied to corn, according to a 1992
review by Hearn and Fitt in C. J. Pearson's Field Crop Ecosystems. This is a
big improvement over 1964 when cotton accounted for 3 times as much as
corn--accounting for over half the 65 million kg of insecticides used in the
U.S.

Things are better nowadays. However, here in the Delta, cotton insecticides are
still the worst pesticide problem.

If youe want to reduce pesticide use in cotton, think about buying organic
cotton products, instead of just writing about it. And think about supporting
the Sustainable Cotton Project working in the Delta, California and Texas.

Details on request.
