Kevin, I reviewed prices nationally last fall, and found a range of $1.75 to
$3.25 per pound. None of the growers I talked to were certified organic, but
were all raising their birds on pasture with local grain mixed with nutrient
and mineral mixes that could be certified organic. My farm and several
others are now certified organic, and the organic feed is more expensive, so
there will be some price increases this year I'm sure. You can sign on to
pasturepoultry@onelist.com for more specific questions, there are two
growers in mid-Missouri I can guide you to for more local information if you
will contact me off list.
Regards,
Andy Lee
