I don't know if this will help much with the winter hardy kiwi,
but this is what I have from Miller Nurseries out of Canandaigua, NY
which sells winter hardy kiwi trees. Their trees bear in 5-7 years,
you need to plant them an average distance of 8' apart and you need
1 male for 3-4 female plants. They claim that two of their kiwis
will yield up to 10 gallons of fruit. No info if they need pruning
