So, it looks like Dale failed to read the included article which read:
Last March, well-known Swedish scientists Lennart Hardell and Mikael
Eriksson published a case-control study (404 cases and 741 controls)
showing once again that non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) is linked to
pesticide exposures. Hardell and Eriksson published their first study
linking phenoxy herbicides to non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) in 1981.
The studies did not link NHL to "probably dioxin," they linked it to a
pesticide exposure.
And before Dale jumps on someone else again, in the common vernacular
(ask your extension office), "pesticide" is something that kills plant
and animal pests and is divided into herbicides and insecticides. Also,
see the article excerpt above in which the author refers to an herbicide
as a pesticide.
As for:

This type of cancer isn't that common? It has averaged a growth rate of
3.3% per year over about 20 years. That's an increase of about 60%! It's
getting more common by the day. And the other 2 forms of cancer
mentioned, prostate & melanoma, have grown about 75% more frequent. I'm
sorry but I just don't buy that all of this increase is due to better
screening and higher rates of diagnosis and sunbathing. Where are the
"scientific studies" to support this idea?
And:
Well, I don't have time to argue all the particulars. But I urge you
not to depend on polemic sources like Rachels, just like I wouldn't
depend on Dupont PR materials. There is reliable information out there
in the scientific community.
Rachels is citing scientific studies- see the reference list. These are
not "polymics," but direct quotes from scientific articles. (Funny how
we dismiss those things which interfere with how we think the universe
operates.)
And someone (who will remain anonymous) sent me a message complaining
about adding the "Rachel's" article:
I think it is more appropriate for you to send such items privately
rather to the entire list.
You may be right, considering how Dale answered without reading the
article. I was addressing his statement in earlier posts in which he
says we should back our "extremist" positions with scientific references
(for all the good it did).
