A couple-

For our corner posts on high tensile electric we have always used cedar
posts (eastern red?) (you need insulators for this)
and for our line posts, we often use these posts Gallager imports that
are a very dense wood that doesnt need insulatora and doesnt rot-

cedar and red wood do not rot very fast at all, the advantage of cedar
posts is that they grow relatively fast, last a long time, and are easy
to control while growing (they dont take over) -
they do only last about 10 years (they rot at the line of soil that is
above the ground water level sometimes , but not always.)

good luck
phil
