Re: objectivity and university

Folks: I would appreciate your thoughts on the definition of
"objectivity", as in "objective science-based research" or "s/he is an
objective researcher". Define, rather than describe it - if you can.

Secondly, I'd be very interested in hearing your perceptions of the
unique and specific role(s) that publicly funded universities
(including but not limited to land grant) should be (not are) playing
in modern society.

Please post to the list, so everyone can benefit from your thoughts.
The context of my question is agriculture, and genetic engineering in
particular, so I will hope that I do not stray too far from the
central axis of sustag. Ann
