GMO labelling

Wrong Dale, at least some of us pushing for labelling have no interest in
putting up road blocks for processors. I am working hard to get the
weak-kneed politicians to put that obligation into legislation so those of
us who want food ingredients labelled don't have to fight for years in the
courts. As you know Monsanto is currently fighting an ice cream
manufacturer who wants to tell customers that no rBST produced milk
products are used in making their ice cream. Monsanto sort of lost the
last round but are appealling. (rBST is recombinant bovine somatotropin or
bovine growth hormone).

I have no interest in passing laws to prohibit research or production of
GMOs. I only want to have a chance to make my own informed choice, and I
want my neighbours to have that same opportunity. It would, of course, be
to the advantage of the corporations promoting genetic engineering if we
did not have the right to be informed and their PR repersentatives know it
would help their cause if they can label those of us fighting for full
disclosure labelling as anti-science, anti-progress, anti-free enterprise,
and, probably, as anti-American.
