On the issue of GMO's I note a superb chapter "Genetics and Animal Welfare" by
Temple Grandin and Mark J. Deesing in a book called Genetics and the Behaviour
of Domestic Animals edited by Temple Grandin ISBN 0-12-295130-1.
Included in the chapter are such delights as domestic animals genetically
selected for rapid weight gain, or to produce large nos of eggs or milk have
virtuallyl insatiable appetites. Ironically the resulting stress may cause poor
quality meat!
And of course there was the case of transgenic mice with a human growth gene
that grew 15% than controls but with serious infirmities.
Makes one stop and thing just a little!!!!!
