LIFE SCIENTIST, GS-11/12
Environmental Protection Agency
Location: Eastern Washington- location to be determined.
The incumbent will serve as the technical specialist in the promotion of
ecologically sound pest management practices. Coordinates programs
requiring participation from a wide range of interest from farmers and
local organizations to Federal agencies. Cooperates in research and
field demonstration projects that address pest management options.
Works to increase awareness in the agricultural community of the
method and production systems that provide better protection to human
health and the environment. Organizes and implements projects with the
potential to alter and improve agricultural pest management strategies in
Eastern Washington with special emphasis on minor crops, while
addressing other environmental concerns related to agriculture (pollution
prevention, clean water, clean air, habitat protection, etc.)
Applicants should have experience developing solutions to pest
problems and other environmental issues associated with farming in
disciplines such as agroecology, horticulture, agronomy, plant pathology,
entomology, soil sciences, ecology, integrated pest management,
environmental sciences or a related area; and in designing and
implementing sustainable agricultural research.
