Case Studies: Training the Trainers in Community-Based Food Systems
Supported by a Southern SARE Professional Development Program grant, the Center for Environmental Farming Systems (CEFS) led a two year train-the-trainer project in North Carolina to expand the state’s capacity to assist in the development of community-based food systems. Extension-led teams from six counties attended a two-day workshop on project planning and development, and returned to their respective counties to plan and implement a community-based project. These six trainers then trained teams in six other counties in North Carolina who proceeded to implement their own programs.
