Reaching a decade is a significant milestone for USDA's Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SARE) program. Authorized in the 1985 Farm Bill, SARE began funding competitive grants in 1988 for agricultural research and education with a $3.9 million budget.
This edition includes profiles from around the country on cover crops, pasture management, food processing, alternative crop rotations, beneficial insects, local produce marketing, organic milk, sustainable beef, improving agricultural communities and management intensive grazing.
