Sharing research results is critical to putting the "applied" in applied research. That is why atSARE, outreach and education go hand in hand with research support. SARE invests in farmerstalking to farmers about new innovations, project leaders showcasing results, and training ag educatorsin the latest practices. All the while, SARE itself is skimming the cream of its research crop forresults to include in its learning center of books, bulletins, online resources and other materials.
Local Learning
SARE grants require project leaders—from farmers and ranchers to universityresearchers and others—to include outreachinitiatives that ensure results areshared with the ag community.
Training Trainers through the ProfessionalDevelopment Program (PDP)
SARE Coordinators in every state andisland protectorate train ag professionalsin sustainable practices and share SAREproject results with them. The PDP programalso gives grants for the developmentof training curricula, outreach efforts,communication products and more.
The SARE Learning Center
SARE Outreach—located in Maryland—andcommunications specialists in the fourSARE regions translate more than 20 yearsof applied research into newsletters, practicalbooks, bulletins and online resources forfarmers, ranchers and ag professionals.
